The background is a bit lacking but I guess you couldn't exactly count on the co operation of you 'model'
In addition to that, I believe that the shallow focus stresses the artistic value of this photograph. It shows a skill in lighting and focus manipulation in "not so perfect" conditions.
I am truly amazed by the composition of this picture, with the top of the fence going all through the depth of field. Look at how stunning it is both in small and full view...
